While preparing "go bags" is smart, I've often thought that the effort is almost futile. How much can a few family members carry? Do you choose nothing more than food/drinks/toilet paper (which all run out quickly), clothing, medicines/first aid kit, flashlights/batteries? Are you fleeing to a FEMA emergency facility, or do you need a tent, rain gear & blankets? Medicine is a huge problem, since pharmacies and doctors don't even allow a person to stock up on medications. With all that to carry, who has the strength or room in your bags to carry important documents? And who are we without proof of who we are and what we have accomplished? I agree, people still aren't taking this seriously. Having to flee for one's life means there is a great chance that one's life is, in effect, ruined. At least now, insurance companies are still paying out. What happens when they stop? Great article.
